Developing Multimedia LTER Resources: LTER Collaboration with OdysseyEarth.com and Everglades Digital Library
The objective of this brainstorming session is to gauge the interest level and develop a cross-site collaboration plan for producing an LTER video series and/or multimedia resources.
FCE LTER has partnered with the South Florida-based, non-profit, Encounters in Excellence to produce LTER multimedia content. These videos will be presented as part of a natural history film/lecture series through live auditorium presentations that boasts an annual audience of over 50,000 K-12 students. Throughout 2012, Encounters in Excellence has been documenting the current research of FCE scientists and will begin to highlight their work, along with that of our RET, REU, and RAHSS recipients, in their auditorium presentations. Videos will also include interactive, whiteboard-based lessons and posted on the companion website OdysseyEarth.com.
Together, FCE LTER and Encounters in Excellence are collaborating with the Everglades Digital Library to produce high quality digital content and searchable metadata. We believe that these partnerships have a tremendous potential to increase cross-site collaboration and address many of the goals and objectives outlined in the 2011 Strategic and Implementation for LTER: Research and Education.
