US-Mexico Ecohydrology Workshop Planning Meeting
Participants in the October 2012 "US-Mexico Workshop: Catalyzing International Collaborations to Develop a Platform for Ecohydrological Research" in Chamela, Jalisco will meet to complete two tasks:
1) Assess our overarching research question:
How do climatic conditions, geology, and social systems drive the two primary (and competing) ecosystem services in aquatic systems in paired US and Mexican LTER sites:
- Water abstracted from the system for human consumption
- Water left in the ecosystem to support aquatic biota and other ecosystem services provided by a functioning aquatic ecosystem
2) Using survey results of availability physical and sociological data from US and Mexican LTER sites, formulate a strategy for answering comparative cross-site questions in ecohydrology.
Discussions in this session will guide the agenda of the workshop in Mexico.
