This workshop will be a facilitated discussion about the future of LTER Information Management. Participants will be given challenge questions and then asked to build alternative future scenarios. Possible futures include, but are not limited to, a central LTER information management service, a distributed but coordinated approach that includes site Information Managers (IMs), and a model based on third party outsourcing. Challenge questions will focus on governance, funding, and cultural change; appropriate IM roles; and technology development. The LTER Network’s LNO Visioning Committee will report the results to the Network as a whole.
Number of 2 hour sessions requested:1
LCD Projector and recording equipment for the session as a whole.
The goal of this workshop will be to get feedback from both Site IMs and a member of each Site's Executive Committee with working knowledge of Site IM. Assistance avoiding conflicts in scheduling would be appreciated.
