This poster explains the origins, current activities, and future vision for the Coweeta Listening Project (CLP). The CLP seeks to develop protocols and mechanisms for translating long-term ecological science into forms of knowledge that have meaningful ramifications beyond solely the realm of scientific “experts”. They also expect CLP to contribute to the ongoing evolution from existing forms of Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) to Long-Term Socioecological Research (LTSER). The CLP will improve understanding of the steps in translating scientific results to be effective for “lay” stakeholders who often suffer or benefit through ecological decision making processes, and who have an inevitable role to play in the unfolding of site-specific ecological contexts.
