Data package construction for Landsat imagery
In a working group session Tuesday, participants were introduced to a collection of long-term (1984-2011) Landsat imagery currently being assembled for every LTER site to be housed in the LTER NIS by the LNO. Data packages will be assembled by Kyle Cavanaugh via a post-doc award (http://intranet2.lternet.edu/content/development-and-analysis-database-l...). This data collection is expected to be about 2Tb in size, and comprise about 5000 EML data packages, and to be ready by the end of November 2012. The structure of these EML data packages has not yet been determined. This ad hoc working group was initiated to discuss how metadata should be organized, especially to facilitate eventual searching.
