Centralized LTER Information Management?
This workshop will be a facilitated discussion about the future of LTER Information Management. Participants will be given challenge questions and then asked to build alternative future scenarios. Possible futures include, but are not limited to, a central LTER information management service, a distributed but coordinated approach that includes site Information Managers (IMs), and a model based on third party outsourcing. Challenge questions will focus on governance, funding, and cultural change; appropriate IM roles; and technology development. The LTER Network’s LNO Visioning Committee will report the results to the Network as a whole.
