Broadening Participation of Diverse Students in LTER Science

Working Group Reports

This session will be an informal conversation about ideas to broaden participation of underrepresented minority students in LTER science. We will share ideas that have worked and brainstorm ways to effectively build upon these strategies as well as to deepen the long-standing partnership with the Ecological Society of America's SEEDS program.  We will consider questions such as:

  1. How can we leverage the successful Schoolyard LTER programs, REU programs, and graduate student programs?
  2. How can a more regional approach to SEEDS and working with SEEDS chapters be productively implemented
  3. How can we connect with existing minority-serving programs such as AISES, AIHEC and MANRRS more effectively?
